CHECK OPERATION WITH PROPER KICK
Check that proper operating conditions have been met for hands free sensor operation. Refer to System Description. Perform kick with proper form.
Is the system operational?
YES>>Instruct customer how to kick with proper form.
NO>>GO TO 2.
CHECK OPERATION OF THE AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR WITH OTHER TRIGGERS
Check if automatic back door works with Intelligent Key, back door opener switch, and automatic back door switch.
Is the system operational?
YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>Perform diagnosis for automatic back door system. Refer to Work Flow.
CHECK Vehicle EQUIPMENT
Check to see if the vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch.
Use EPC parts catalog to confirm that the correct hands free sensor control unit part number is installed for vehicles equipped with/without a trailer hitch.
Is the correct hands free sensor control unit installed?
YES>>GO TO 4.
NO>>Replace hands free sensor control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.
CHECK DTC WITH AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR CONTROL UNIT
Check that DTC is not detected with automatic back door control unit.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 5.
NO>>Perform trouble diagnosis relevant to DTC indicated. If DTC exists for automatic back door control unit and hands free sensor, address automatic back door control unit DTC first.
CHECK FOR WIRING OR SENSOR DAMAGE
Remove any bumper undercover, if necessary. Clean off hands free sensor assembly of dirt, dust, etc. Check entire hands free sensor assembly to see if any wiring, connectors, or sensors are damaged.
Is there any issue with wiring, connectors, or sensors?
YES>>Replace damaged wiring, connector, or sensor. Refer toDiagnosis Procedure.
NO>>GO TO 6.
CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT-1
Check hands free control unit power supply and ground circuit.
Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 7.
NO>>Repair or replace the malfunctioning parts.
CHECK HANDS FREE SENSOR SIGNAL
Check hands free sensor signal. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 8.
NO>>Replace fuse if necessary. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT-2
Check automatic back door control unit power supply and ground circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace hands free sensor. Refer to Exploded View.
NO>>Replace hands free sensor control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.
