Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: Cleaning exterior

Basic information

Maintaining the exterior of your Nissan Armada is essential not only for preserving its visual appeal but also for protecting the paintwork and body components over time.

To keep the Nissan Armada in optimal condition, wash the vehicle promptly under the following circumstances:

  • after rainfall, especially to minimize the effects of acid rain on the paint surface
  • after driving along coastal or salty roads where corrosion risk is higher
  • when contaminants such as bird droppings, tree sap, insects, soot, or metal particles adhere to the surface
  • when visible dirt, dust, or mud accumulates on the Nissan Armada exterior

Whenever possible, park your Nissan Armada in a garage or covered area to shield it from environmental damage.

If outdoor parking is necessary, choose a shaded location or use a protective vehicle cover designed for the Nissan Armada.

Take extra care when installing or removing the cover to avoid scratching the paint surface.

Washing

To clean your Nissan Armada properly, begin by rinsing off loose dirt using plenty of water and a soft sponge.

Then wash the vehicle thoroughly using a mild automotive soap or a gentle dishwashing solution mixed with clean, lukewarm water. Never use hot water, as it may damage the finish.

Regular washing helps preserve the Nissan Armada paint quality and prevents long-term buildup of harmful substances.

WARNING

  • Do not wash the engine compartment of the Nissan Armada.

Water intrusion into electrical components may cause starting issues, short circuits, or serious malfunctions.

  • When using the side step on the Nissan Armada, always ensure the door is open. Using the step with the door closed increases the risk of slipping or falling.

CAUTION

  • Avoid directing strong water spray at the sonar sensors on the Nissan Armada bumpers, as this may damage the sensors and affect system performance.
  • Do not use pressure washers exceeding 1,200 psi (8,274 kPa) when cleaning your Nissan Armada. Excessive pressure may damage paint, trim, or decals.

Always keep the nozzle at least 12 inches (30 cm) away, use a wide-angle spray, and continuously move the nozzle to prevent localized damage.

  • Avoid car wash facilities that use acidic detergents. Such chemicals can degrade plastic components on the Nissan Armada, leading to cracks, discoloration, or malfunction.

Always confirm with the car wash provider that acid-based cleaning agents are not used.

  • Never clean the Nissan Armada with strong household cleaners, harsh chemicals, gasoline, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • Avoid washing the Nissan Armada under direct sunlight or when the body surface is hot, as this may cause water spotting or streaking.
  • Do not use rough cloths or abrasive washing mitts. Use soft materials to prevent scratching the paint surface.
  • Before entering an automatic car wash, ensure that the fuel-filler door of the Nissan Armada is securely closed.

After washing, rinse the Nissan Armada thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap residue.

Pay special attention to hidden areas such as door seams, flanges, and hood edges, as these sections are particularly susceptible to corrosion from road salt and contaminants.

For best results, dry the Nissan Armada with a soft microfiber cloth to prevent water spots and maintain a polished finish.

For optimal maintenance of your Nissan Armada, these areas must be cleaned regularly. Always ensure that the drain holes located along the lower edges of the doors remain clear and unobstructed to prevent water accumulation and corrosion.

Rinse the underside of the Nissan Armada, including the wheel wells, using clean water to loosen dirt and effectively remove road salt and debris that can accelerate rust formation.

To avoid unsightly water spots on the Nissan Armada paintwork, dry the vehicle thoroughly using a soft, damp chamois or microfiber cloth immediately after washing.

Waxing

Applying wax regularly to your Nissan Armada provides a protective layer over the paint surface and helps maintain its glossy, like-new appearance.

Before reapplying wax, it is recommended to polish the surface to remove any buildup of old wax and restore the clarity of the finish.

For best results, consult a NISSAN dealer to select a wax product specifically suited for your Nissan Armada.

  • Always wax the Nissan Armada after a complete and thorough wash. Carefully follow the instructions provided with the wax product.
  • Avoid using waxes that contain abrasive compounds or harsh cleaners, as these may damage the paint finish of your Nissan Armada.

Using aggressive polishing compounds or machine polishing on a base coat/clear coat finish may dull the surface or create swirl marks on your Nissan Armada.

Removing spots

Contaminants such as tar, oil, industrial fallout, insects, and tree sap should be removed from the Nissan Armada paint surface as soon as possible to prevent staining or long-term damage.

Specialized automotive cleaning products designed for these contaminants are available through NISSAN dealers or reputable automotive supply stores.

Underbody

In regions where road salt is commonly used during winter, it is especially important to clean the Nissan Armada underbody frequently.

Regular cleaning prevents the buildup of corrosive materials and helps protect critical components such as the suspension and frame.

Before winter begins and again after the season ends, inspect the underbody coating of the Nissan Armada and reapply protective treatment if necessary.

Glass

Use a high-quality glass cleaner to remove dust, smoke residue, and film from the windows of your Nissan Armada.

It is normal for glass surfaces to develop a thin film after exposure to heat and sunlight. This can be easily removed with proper cleaning products and a soft cloth.

CAUTION

When cleaning the interior glass of the Nissan Armada, avoid using sharp tools, abrasive cleaners, or chlorine-based products, as these may damage embedded electrical elements such as antennas or rear window defrosters.

Wheels

Basic information

Clean the wheels of your Nissan Armada regularly as part of routine vehicle washing to maintain their appearance and performance.

  • Clean the inner surfaces of the wheels when rotating tires or washing the underside of the Nissan Armada.
  • Inspect wheel rims frequently for dents, corrosion, or damage, as these issues can lead to air leaks or poor tire sealing.
  • NISSAN recommends waxing the wheels to protect them from road salt and environmental exposure, particularly in winter conditions.

CAUTION

Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners on the wheels of your Nissan Armada, as they may damage the finish.

Aluminum alloy wheels

Aluminum alloy wheels on the Nissan Armada should be washed regularly using a soft sponge and a mild soap solution, especially during winter months when road salt exposure is common.

If not removed promptly, salt deposits may cause discoloration or corrosion on the wheels.

CAUTION

To prevent staining or damage to Nissan Armada wheels, follow these precautions:

  • Avoid using wheel cleaners that contain strong acids or alkaline substances.
  • Do not apply cleaning agents to hot wheels. Always allow the wheels to cool to ambient temperature before cleaning.
  • Rinse the wheels thoroughly within 15 minutes after applying any cleaning solution to prevent residue buildup or damage.

Bright wheels (if so equipped)

Bright wheels on the Nissan Armada feature a specialized clear-coated finish that differs from conventional aluminum alloy wheels and is not chrome-plated.

Because of this unique coating, the bright wheels on the Nissan Armada require careful and specific cleaning methods to preserve their appearance and durability.

For best results, regularly wash the wheels using a soft sponge and plenty of clean water. After rinsing, gently dry the Nissan Armada wheels with a soft, clean cloth to prevent water spots and ensure a flawless finish.

If substances such as tire wax, road chemicals, antifreeze residue, or dirt come into contact with the wheels, clean them immediately to avoid staining or coating damage.

CAUTION

  • The Nissan Armada bright wheels have a unique coating that differs from standard alloy wheels. Never use abrasive cleaners or aluminum wheel cleaners, as these can damage the protective surface.
  • Avoid automatic car washes when your Nissan Armada is equipped with bright wheels, as harsh cleaning processes may degrade the coating.
  • Do not use brushes or stiff cleaning tools on Nissan Armada bright wheels, as they may scratch or compromise the finish.

Chrome parts

  • When chrome components on the Nissan Armada become heavily soiled, clean them using a mild soap solution, automotive cleaner, or diluted dishwashing liquid with lukewarm water, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry chrome surfaces completely to prevent water spots or mineral residue from forming.
  • For oil stains, use alcohol-based wipes carefully, ensuring the cleaner does not contact surrounding painted surfaces of the Nissan Armada.
  • Applying a protective wax layer to chrome parts can help reduce oxidation and maintain shine over time.

NOTE:

  • Some Nissan Armada models may feature dark chrome finishes, which are more susceptible to visible water spots compared to standard chrome.
  • When removing water stains, avoid aggressive scrubbing. Instead, use a specialized water spot remover designed for automotive finishes.

Tire dressing

NISSAN generally does not recommend the use of tire dressings on the Nissan Armada, as factory-applied coatings on the tires are designed to minimize discoloration and maintain appearance.

Applying tire dressing may react with this coating, forming residue that can transfer onto the Nissan Armada body panels during driving, potentially causing stains.

If you choose to apply tire dressing, follow these precautions carefully:

  • Use only water-based tire dressing products, as oil-based formulas may degrade the tire surface more quickly.
  • Apply a thin, even layer to avoid excess buildup and prevent product from entering tire grooves.
  • Wipe away any excess dressing with a dry cloth to ensure no residue remains on the Nissan Armada tires.
  • Allow the dressing to fully dry before driving, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
