Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: Hill Start Assist system

WARNING

  • Never depend solely on the Hill Start Assist system in the Nissan Armada to prevent rollback when starting on an incline. Always remain attentive and keep full control of the vehicle. When stopped on a steep hill, firmly press the brake pedal. Extra caution is required on icy, muddy, or loose surfaces, as the vehicle may still move unexpectedly, potentially leading to serious injury or accidents.
  • The Nissan Armada Hill Start Assist system is not designed to hold the vehicle stationary for extended periods. It only provides temporary assistance. Always keep your foot on the brake pedal when stopped on a hill to avoid unintended movement.
  • Under certain load conditions or road surfaces, the Nissan Armada Hill Start Assist system may not completely prevent rollback. Be prepared to apply the brake manually at all times to ensure safe vehicle control.

The Hill Start Assist system in the Nissan Armada automatically maintains brake pressure for a short moment when the vehicle is stopped on an incline. This gives the driver enough time to release the brake pedal and press the accelerator without the vehicle rolling backward.

This feature enhances driver confidence during uphill starts, especially in traffic or when towing, by reducing the risk of unintended movement.

The Nissan Armada Hill Start Assist system activates automatically when the following conditions are met:

  • The transmission is shifted into a forward or reverse gear.
  • The vehicle is completely stopped on an incline with the brake pedal applied.

The system holds the brakes for approximately 2 seconds.

After this brief interval, the Nissan Armada will begin to roll if sufficient throttle is not applied, and the Hill Start Assist system will disengage.

The system will not operate when the transmission is in N (Neutral) or P (Park), or when the vehicle is on a flat surface.

Additionally, if the slip indicator light is illuminated in the instrument cluster, the Nissan Armada Hill Start Assist system will be temporarily unavailable.
