In the Nissan Armada, the Rear Door Alert system is designed as a helpful reminder feature that alerts the driver when there may be an item or passenger left in the rear seats. Always check the rear seating area before exiting the Nissan Armada to ensure safety.
The Rear Door Alert system in the Nissan Armada is enabled by default but can be turned off through the vehicle information display according to driver preference.
When the system is enabled in the Nissan Armada:
- The system is activated once a rear door is opened and then closed.
- The system monitors activity within a time window of approximately 15 minutes between opening a rear door and starting the Nissan Armada. Longer intervals do not indicate a malfunction.
Type A (if so equipped):
When the "Horn & Alert" setting is selected in the Nissan Armada:
- After the engine is turned off, a message appears in the Nissan Armada display
with options such as "Dismiss Message" or "Disable Alert".
- Select "Disable Alert" to temporarily deactivate the alert for the current stop.
- Choosing "Dismiss Message" or making no selection will keep the alert active.
- If the alert remains active when exiting the Nissan Armada, a message "Check Rear Seat" will appear in the display.
- An audible horn warning will sound after a short delay unless a rear door is opened and closed again to cancel the alert.
- If the Nissan Armada is locked before the alert is canceled, the horn will sound as an additional reminder.
- If the liftgate is opened first, the horn will be delayed until the liftgate is closed.
NOTE:
When the "Alert Only" setting is selected in the Nissan Armada, the display message will still appear, but the horn will not sound.
WARNING
The Nissan Armada Rear Door Alert system does not detect passengers or objects directly. It only monitors rear door usage, which may indicate that something has been placed in the rear seats.
NOTE:
There may be situations where the Nissan Armada horn sounds even if no objects or passengers are present in the rear seats.
Type B (if so equipped):
When the "Rear Door Alert" feature is ON in the Nissan Armada:
- After turning off the engine, a "Check Rear Seat" notification will appear in the vehicle information display.
WARNING
The Nissan Armada system is a reminder feature only and should not replace a visual check of the rear seats before exiting the vehicle.
