Nissan Armada 2025-2026 Owner's Manual: Steering Assist with HD map data (a feature of ProPILOT Assist 2.1)

In the Nissan Armada equipped with ProPILOT Assist 2.1, Steering Assist is enhanced by HD map data, enabling more advanced driving support. When all required conditions are met, the system indicator turns blue, signaling that enhanced functionality is active.

In this advanced mode, the Nissan Armada may allow temporary hands-off driving when conditions, traffic regulations, and safety factors permit. However, the driver must remain fully attentive to the road and be ready to take control immediately at any time.

The driver can override Steering Assist at any moment by manually steering. Even when ProPILOT Assist 2.1 is active in the Nissan Armada, responsibility for safe vehicle operation always remains with the driver.

To activate the blue indicator mode in the Nissan Armada, the following conditions must be satisfied. The system may deactivate if any condition is no longer met:

  • ProPILOT Assist is active and the driver’s hands are initially detected on the steering wheel.
  • The Nissan Armada is traveling on a recognized highway or limited-access freeway supported by HD map data.
  • All sensors (camera, radar, GNSS) are functioning properly and are unobstructed.
  • The driver monitoring system confirms that the driver is attentive to the road ahead.
  • Driving, traffic, and environmental conditions are suitable.
  • Lane markings are clearly visible and detectable.
  • The vehicle speed is below approximately 85 MPH (137 km/h).

WARNING

It is always the driver’s responsibility to operate the Nissan Armada in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Depending on local regulations, drivers may be required to keep their hands on the steering wheel at all times. Hands-off operation should only be used when legally permitted and when it is safe to do so.

How to enable/disable Hands Off mode:

WARNING

If the ProPILOT Assist 2.1 display changes from blue to green in the Nissan Armada, the driver must immediately place their hands back on the steering wheel.

Steering Assist with HD map data is not available or may cancel if any of the following conditions are met, including but not limited to:

  • When approaching toll booths, exits, junctions, sharp curves, intersections, or merging lanes.
  • When driving outside supported highway areas or when HD map data is unavailable or inconsistent.
  • When GNSS signal reception is lost, such as in tunnels.
  • When driving on roads without separation from opposing traffic.
  • When the accelerator is pressed or the steering wheel is actively turned.
  • In construction zones or temporary road conditions.
  • When the driver monitoring system cannot confirm driver attention.
  • When the driver’s face is not clearly visible or properly oriented toward the road.
  • When visibility of facial features is obstructed by accessories such as masks or sunglasses.
  • When strong sunlight affects driver monitoring accuracy.
  • When windshield wipers operate at high speed.
  • When safety systems such as AEB with Pedestrian Detection or LDW are activated.

NOTE:

  • Refer to "License information (ProPILOT Assist 2.1)" for details regarding HD map data licensing.
  • For additional details on HD maps, visit official Nissan resources provided for your region.
  • Steering Assist with HD map data is not available in Hawaii or U.S. island territories.

Additional recommendation: To ensure optimal performance of advanced driver assistance systems in the Nissan Armada, regularly check sensor cleanliness and remain fully attentive, even when hands-off functionality is available.
