CAUTION
If your Nissan Armada begins to overheat (for example, the temperature gauge rises to an extreme level, engine power decreases, or unusual noises are heard), take the following actions immediately:
1. Safely pull the Nissan Armada off the road, engage the parking brake, and shift the transmission into the P (Park) position.
Do not immediately turn off the engine unless instructed by the conditions below.
2. Turn off the climate control system. Open all windows and set the heater to maximum temperature with the fan on high to help dissipate engine heat.
3. If the overheating occurs while driving uphill or under heavy load, allow the Nissan Armada engine to run at a fast idle (around 1,500 rpm) until the temperature gauge returns to normal.
4. Exit the Nissan Armada and carefully inspect the vehicle from a safe distance. Listen and look for steam or coolant leaks before opening the hood.
(If steam or coolant is escaping, turn off the engine immediately.) Do not attempt to open the hood until all visible steam has dissipated.
5. Once safe, open the engine hood of the Nissan Armada cautiously.
WARNING
If steam or hot coolant is escaping, stay clear of the engine area to avoid serious burns.
6. Inspect drive belts for signs of damage or looseness. Check whether the cooling fan is operating properly. Also inspect hoses and the radiator for leaks. If coolant is leaking or the cooling fan is not functioning, turn off the Nissan Armada engine immediately.
WARNING
Keep hands, clothing, jewelry, and hair away from moving components such as belts and the cooling fan. The Nissan Armada cooling fan may activate at any time.
7. After the engine has cooled sufficiently, check the coolant level in the reservoir tank while the engine is running. Add coolant if necessary. It is strongly recommended to have your Nissan Armada inspected and repaired by an authorized NISSAN dealer.
WARNING
When adding coolant, open only the coolant reservoir cap. Never open the radiator cap and reservoir cap at the same time on the Nissan Armada.
