Telematics System Symptoms

Symptom Table

RELATED TO TELEMATICS

On board (on the vehicle)

Check ON/OFF status of TCU using the data monitor of CONSULT.

  • Replace TCU if it is ON.

    Refer to Removal & Installation.

  • Turn it ON again if it is OFF. Replace TCU if ON is switched to OFF.

    Refer to Removal & Installation.

No service.

Use another cellular phone to check radio wave condition.

  • If the service is available, replace TCU or TEL antenna.

    • For TCU replacement, Refer to Removal & Installation.

    • For TEL antenna replacement, Refer to Removal & Installation.

  • If the service is not available, move the vehicle to the position where service is available and perform the operation again.

Service is not continued due to poor radio wave status.

Use another cellular phone to check radio wave condition.

  • If it is OK, there may be a cause at the NissanConnect Services Data Center. Check connection after a short period of time. If there is no problem at the NissanConnect Services Data Center, replace TCU or TEL antenna.

    • For TCU replacement, Refer to Removal & Installation.

    • For TEL antenna replacement, Refer to Removal & Installation.

  • If it is NG, check connection again after a short period of time.

You need to make registration for this service. Check input of user ID and password from the navigation setting screen. If malfunction such as input or no memory despite input is detected, replace AV control unit.
TCU line is used.

Check connection after a short period of time.

Replace TCU if it is frequently displayed.

Perform symptom diagnosis "SOFTWARE NOT UPDATED".

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

"Software update did not complete successfully.

The previous software version is restored. Please wait for a new update to be sent to your car."
After updating the software, a problem was detected in the control unit to be updated, so the software was started with the software before the update. Touch []→ [General] → [System] → [System Updates] → [Software Update] on the Launch Bar, and then perform software updates. If the same message is displayed repeatedly, perform symptom diagnosis "SOFTWARE NOT UPDATED ". Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

"Software update did not complete successfully.

Please wait for a new update to be sent to your car."
  • vehicle network error (when switching software)

    • Between TCU and 8ch CAN gateway

    • Between 8ch CAN gateway and control unit to be updated

  • Software update failed multiple times

  • After a while (about 20 to 30 minutes), Touch []→ [General] → [System] → [System Updates] → [Software Update] on the Launch Bar, and then perform software updates.

  • If the same message is displayed repeatedly, use CONSULT to perform a self-diagnosis of "IVC". Refer to Consult Function.

  • If there is no abnormality in the telematics system, the number of software update failures may have exceeded the limit, so use CONSULT to reprogram the control unit to be updated. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Other than the above

Refer to "NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION".

System Description.

Software Not Updated

Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM "ALL SELF-DIAGNOSIS"

With CONSULT

Perform “All DTC Reading” using CONSULT.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

REPAIR MALFUNCTIONING PARTS

  1. Repair all detected DTCs according to the diagnosis procedure.

  2. Perform “All DTC Reading” using CONSULT again.

  3. Check that DTC is not detected.

GO TO 3.

CONFIRM CONTROL UNIT FOR SOFTWARE UPDATE

Check the reprogramming data and identify the control unit for software update.

NOTE:

Software updates may target multiple control units at once.

GO TO 4.

PERFORM "REPROGRAMMING"

With CONSULT

Perform "Reprogramming" the control unit to be updated using CONSULT.

CAUTION:

If there are multiple control units to be updated, reprogram all control units to be updated.

NOTE:

Refer to the CONSULT instruction manual for the "reprogramming" procedure.

Has "reprogramming" been completed?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 5.

REPLACE CONTROL UNIT

Replace the control unit that failed to reprogram.

CAUTION:

  • Check and perform the "ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING CONTROL UNIT" of the control unit to be replaced.

  • For "ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING CONTROL UNIT", refer to the removal and installation of the control unit to be replaced.

GO TO 6.

SOFTWARE UPDATE

  1. Touch [] → [General ] → [System] → [System Updates] on the Launch Bar to display the system update screen.

  2. Touch [Software Update], and then perform software update.

Did you update the software?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Check the displayed message and check the malfunction part based on the "Symptom diagnosis table". Refer to Symptom Table.

RELATED TO NissanConnect Services

Symptom Possible cause Possible solution
The system cannot connect to the NissanConnect Services Data Center. A subscription for the NissanConnect Services has not been established. Sign up for a subscription to the NissanConnect Services. For details about subscriptions, contact a Nissan retailer or visit the NissanConnect Services Data Center website.
The communication line is busy. Try again after a short period of time.
The vehicle is in a location where it is difficult to receive radio waves. When the vehicle moves to an area where radio waves can be transmitted sufficiently, communication will be restored. When the icon on the display shows that the vehicle is inside the communication area, the system can be used.
TCU (Telematics Control Unit) is not receiving the signal. If the icon shows poor TCU (Telematics Control Unit) signal status despite the fact that the vehicle is in the area where the network is fully available, visit the website or contact the support line.
Radio wave reception for TCU is insufficient. When the vehicle moves to an area where radio waves can be transmitted sufficiently, communication will be restored. When the icon on the display shows that the vehicle is inside the communication area, the system can be used.
The system does not announce information. The volume level is set to the minimum. Adjust the volume level by operating the VOL switches located on the control panel or on the steering wheel switch while the system is announcing information.

RELATED TO SOFTWARE AUTOMATIC UPDATE

NOTE:

  • If there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, but the software is not updated.

  • The software automatic update function (OTA) can be used even if you have not subscribed to the telematics service.

Symptom Massage Possible cause Possible solution
Software Not Updated "The software update was canceled. Please wait for a new software to be sent to your car." Canceled from the information center (server) because the delivered software was not appropriate. Wait until the latest software is delivered
"The installation could not start." The conditions for starting installation are not met.

Check the following conditions, turn on / off the ignition switch, and touch consent from the permission screen.

  • The vehicle parked in a secure location

  • The vehicle is powered off

  • The battery voltagel is not low

  • The hazard lights and other vehicle electronics remain off

"Unable to connect to software update server. Please try again later." Cannot connect to the information center (server) due to poor communication signal reception or out of communication range

Move to a place with good communication (a place where the telematics icon is within range)

NOTE:

Check the communication signal reception status with the telematics icon on the display. Refer to Symptom Table.

"There is no response from software update server. Please try again later." An error has occurred in the information center (server) and there is no response. Automatically updated as soon as the information center (server) is restored
